When Katy Appleby and Di Humphrey opened a pop-up pub in the middle of a global pandemic last July, people thought they were slightly unhinged. Little did they know that six months later they’d have an ale named after them and be running a successful community pub in South Moreton, Oxfordshire.
The local community saved the Crown from developers in 2018 and the pub reopened in 2019. At the start of lockdown one, the original tenant moved on leaving the pub vacant. Both on furlough from elsewhere, Katy Appleby and Di Humphrey organised a pop-up pub in July 2020....
