Des de Moor will mark the publication of his major new work, Cask: The real story of Britain’s unique beer culture, on Tuesday 1 August with a series of activities at the Great British Beer Festival in London’s Olympia – the biggest real ale bar in the world.
Des (pictured) will give a brief introduction to the book at 2pm in the Learn and Discover Zone, then lead a small group on a tour to sample a beers in a variety of styles. He’ll also be available to sign copies, while festival leaflets will promote the book alongside a self-guided tour of the bars.
Des returns to the festival on Wednesday and Friday for bookable Cask Classic and Contemporary tutored tastings, plus further informal signings and beer safaris. And he’s planning a series of events at brewery taprooms, pubs, bookshops and beer festivals across the country over the next year.
The book is the first to explore the past, present and future of cask for a general audience, presenting this unique and much-misunderstood beer format to a new generation of drinkers.
