Temporary venue closure can't stop festival return

The 45th Norwich Beer Festival will return to the city’s Halls this October to the delight of beer lovers.

Run by Norwich & District CAMRA from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 October this year, Blackfriars' and St Andrew’s Halls will see a wide range of national and local ales, with the former also hosting music performances throughout the festival.

The announcement follows speculation over the temporary closure of the Halls for essential repairs and maintenance.

The CAMRA branch shared a communication from Norwich City Council which said: “There are no immediate concerns regarding the structure of the building and can continue to use it until the construction phase commences in early 2024.”

Festival organiser Craig Harmer said: "We are delighted to be returning for another year to the Halls and hope this will be a record-breaking year for attendance, with plenty of new and familiar faces.

“We especially appreciate those who organise groups or travel from afar to enjoy the festival.”

At the event, every variety of ale will be on offer, with the more unusual to be found at the Curiosity Bar, now in its fifth year, plus a dedicated cider and perry section with everything from the very sweet to the very dry to tickle your taste buds.

The popular World Beer Bar also returns to the marquee with an exciting mix of overseas specials.

Every day, including Saturday, visitors can pay on the door but advance tickets are now on sale at: https://norwich.camra.org.uk/festival/advance-tickets/

As always, there will be a limited number of Norwich Beer Festival collectible beer glasses, with the new logo. If you’re missing a glass in your collection or want to commemorate a special year, visit the merchandise stand where you will also find hoodies, T-shirts, books and gifts.

The branch is also running a series of evening and daytime coach trips open to all, but with discounts for members. The trips give an opportunity to try some town and country gems you might otherwise miss! The trips can be found alongside the usual calendar of socials on the Norwich & District CAMRA website: https://norwich.camra.org.uk/socials/
