Pubs are open and the sun is shining but sales of beer in bars are floundering.
It is estimated 60m pints will be sold in Britain’s pubs over the August bank holiday weekend – six million fewer than the same period in 2019.
The fall in beer sales continues to put in peril the route to survival for thousands of community pubs.
According to the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) reform of business rates, VAT and beer duty are essential to bridge the gap in pubs’ recovery....
