Regional Director sought

CAMRA is looking for someone to fill one of its most senior volunteer roles –

Regional Director of the West Midlands.

The elected position is key to the successful running of CAMRA activities at a regional level – including campaigning and beer festivals – and at a national level, with Regional Directors involved in the some of the highest levels of decision making and strategy setting across the Campaign for Real Ale.

Regional Directors act as a vital conduit between CAMRA branches and the national organisation – mobilising and organising members to deliver CAMRA’s campaigning objectives.

If elected by members in the West Midlands, the successful candidate will serve initially for one year, then for a further three-year-term if approved by branches.

The role of Regional Director gives great opportunities for developing skills, including strategy development, working with the media, project management, personnel management and financial management. In addition the role will give you great opportunities to develop personal experiences, such as taking part in events at Parliament, representing an almost 200,000-strong organisation at national level and building a network of friends and contacts across the country.

Current Regional Director Gary Timmins is stepping down having been elected to CAMRA’s National Executive in April. He said: “It’s a very rewarding and challenging role which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Serving as Regional Director for nine years helped me enhance my own skills and experience, and develop a whole new skill set, which not only helps me in my personal life, but has benefited my professional life as well.

“I’m confident I’m leaving the West Midlands in a good state, with an established team and a good network of support to ensure the new Regional Director will find it quicker to find their feet and be effective.”

Get organising in West Midlands Region

CAMRA’s West Midlands region is looking to expand its team of Area Organisers (AO) to help deliver campaigning objectives and work with branches in the region.

The volunteer Area Organiser will cover Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley & South Staffordshire – acting as deputy to the Regional Director and liaising with branches as a key point of contact for members in the area.

We also are looking for a deputy AO for Staffordshire.

The AO roles are ideal for members looking to increase their participation in Campaign activities and develop a wider group of friends and contacts across the region – as well as develop their own personal and professional skills.

Online with the Campaign

Savvy with social media? CAMRA’s West Midlands region is looking for a volunteer Regional Social Media Coordinator to further develop the Campaign’s effectiveness across the area.

It’s a great chance for someone to develop their social media skills and enhance their own profile and experience – especially if they’re looking to develop professionally in the same field.

The successful candidate will get high level responsibility for enhancing the digital media presence of branches across the West Midlands and work closely with the regional leadership team to manage the regional website and social media feeds.
