Your favourite magazine is back and online

The autumn edition of BEER is now available online, packed with articles you just can’t miss.

The cover story is Tim Webb’s take on the UK’s beer market. Find out how the brewing industry has lost its way, what can be done to fix the situation the industry finds itself in and how this all impacts cask beer. This long-read is the perfect addendum to CAMRA’s Beer in the UK report published in July.

“A good traditional pub is now becoming a rarity, which has led to a revival of interest in that tradition and history,” said Steve Holt, owner of Kirkstall brewery. Find out how Kirkstall and other independent breweries are revitalising traditional pubs around the country, in Will Hawkes’ excellent piece on the UK’s wet-led successes.

Regular contributor David Jesudason tracks down pub artists who have gained online followings by drawing the pubs of London and Bristol while Roger Protz explores how family brewer Robinsons is bucking the trend – and thriving.

Jacopo Mazzeo argues there is untapped tourism potential within the UK’s cask beer scene and John Westlake travels to Düsseldorf to try several versions of alt – a top-fermented style that’s still going strong despite lager’s popularity.

Jeff Evans interviews Wye Valley’s MD to talk through the history of its top seller Butty Bach, Christian Gott explores the pubs of Lewes on foot and Neil Pettigrew guides you around more entries in London’s Real Heritage Pubs.

There’s much more packed in this issue plus your regular What’s Brewing news.
