Pear-themed banquet to close AppleFest

To close the 2023 Hereford AppleFest, the city council will host a pear-themed banquet in its historic Town Hall on Saturday 14 October.

Guests are invited to celebrate the 2023 harvest with Martin Carter’s (Saxtys’ executive chef) pear-infused menu with each of the dishes matched with ciders and perries from some of the region’s leading producers, including Newton Court, Ross on Wye Cider and Perry Company, Little Pomona and Oliver’s.

The banquet will take place in the majestic Assembly Hall of the Grade II-listed Town Hall. Tickets are £62.50 including a welcome drink, key-note speakers, three-course meal with matching ciders and perries, and coffee and mints. Vegan/vegetarian/special dietary alternatives are available.

The speakers will be Adam Wells and Bill Laws. Wells is an independent cider and perry writer, speaker and judge, and the founder editor of Cider Review. He is currently writing a new consumer-focused guide about perry, slated for publication by CAMRA in 2024. Be the first to hear about the launch of the perry book KickStarter, complete with exclusive offers, news, tastings and events here.

Laws is a local historian, author of more than 20 titles, including Fifty Plants that Changed the Course of History, and archive editor of Herefordshire Lore.
