Tributes were given to Jonathan Kemp across the weekend as CAMRA members gathered in Sheffield.
Jonathan, who died suddenly in October 2022, was a highly valued and much-loved member of CAMRA’s National Executive (NE) and the wider CAMRA community, especially at festivals across Scotland.
Before opening the formal business of the AGM, national chairman Nik Antona paid tribute to Jonathan, whose chair on stage at the National Executive table had been left empty as a mark of remembrance.
Nik also invited Jonathan’s sister, Kirstie, to speak to the AGM about her brother and his love for CAMRA.
Later in the weekend, Kirstie also accepted a CAMRA Chairman’s Award on behalf of Jonathan, for his work as part of the Inclusion, Diversity and Equality Review Group.
A tribute in the Review Group’s Final Report said:
Jonathan Kemp died suddenly in October 2022, before the Group’s work was completed. As a member of the Group, and CAMRA’s events director, he had already begun to implement changes discussed by the Review Group including developing a Festival Code of Conduct. He will be greatly missed by everyone in the CAMRA family.
