Windsor & Eton brewery has announced a new beer celebrating the coronation of King Charles III.
Called Return of the King, the new beer will be available in 500ml bottles, 440ml cans and in cask at 4.2 per cent with advance orders being taken now.
Chairman and co-founder Will Calvert said: “Return of the King celebrates King Charles’ lifetime of service to the country and his passionate support of the environment. We wanted to mark the occasion by our very first 100 per cent organic beer brewed here in the heart of Windsor.
“We’ve created a beautifully balanced recipe using organic barley from the local Royal farm and organic English hops.
“The beer takes one of the most iconic and popular photographs of King Charles and gives it a distinctive Windsor & Eton brewery twist (above).
“London portrait artist, Martin Jessup was commissioned to paint the new king sitting relaxed in ceremonial uniform surrounded by the birds, butterflies, and bees of his beloved British countryside."
Windsor & Eton MD Jon Radford said: “People were telling us that one of the most surprising aspects of the new monarchy is how strange it felt to be saying or singing the king after more than 70 years of the queen. So we are sure that Return of the King is something that will strike a chord with people in May when they raise a toast to the king.”
