CAMRA’s Ipswich Beer and Cider Festival is set to make a post-pandemic comeback this summer at a new venue near the town’s waterfront.
The 33rd festival, which is being organised by CAMRA and Briarbank brewery, will move to St Clement’s church for the event which runs from 27-30 July.
Briarbank head brewer Robert Lewis-Pyke said: “I’ve been thinking about organising a beer festival on a larger scale for a while and, following talks with CAMRA, 2023 felt like the right time to bring back the Ipswich Beer and Cider Festival.
“I used to attend back in the day, and it’s one of the things that started my passion for brewing. I'm really looking forward to working with other brewers, bringing their beer and cider to Ipswich.”
The festival will be the first CAMRA beer festival in the town to be hosted indoors since 2015 when it used to be a fixture in the Grand Hall of the town’s Corn Exchange.
Ipswich and East Suffolk branch chairman Gordon Taylor said: “We’re really excited to be working with Robert at the Briarbank to bring back the beer and cider festival to Ipswich.”
St Clement’s, one of the town’s largest churches, is currently being revived as a centre for the community.
