New research has revealed small brewers will be excluded from government proposals to support beer and pubs through reduced duty on draught beer.
CAMRA and the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) are now urging the Treasury to amend the tax changes to help small brewers and cask beer thrive.
The changes, announced in last year’s Budget, offer a different rate of taxation for draught beer and cider to encourage people to support pubs and other licensed venues.
However, the tax break is only applicable for beer and cider served in containers of 40 litres and over, which excludes many small and independent brewers....
