CAMRA has produced a new definition for “real cider and perry #NotFromConcentrate” to make it easier to find them.
Artisanal cider is enjoying a resurgence with today’s makers blending heritage with modern methods.
Unfortunately, many of today's industrial producers create bland, characterless drinks that are not recognised as real cider. Many of these are produced from concentrate (see picture) and have a very low juice content – the minimum legal requirement is only 35 per cent. These dominate the market with more than 90 per cent of sales....
