For the third time in the last eight years Cheltenham can boast having the best real ale club in the country.
Cheltenham Motor Club, on Upper Park Street near the A40, is no stranger to the Club of the Year accolade having tasted success in 2013 and 2017.
CAMRA’s Clubs Committee chairman Keith Spencer said: “Cheltenham Motor Club keeps raising the bar in this competition.
“It is clear the club is a pivotal fixture in the community, and you can see people of all ages and backgrounds throwing their support behind it.”
Club manager Neil Way, (above) said the award was a “profound shock”.
“As a long-term member of CAMRA, I am incredibly proud to have won it again,” he said. “An awful lot of hard work goes into running a private member’s club and to have finished ahead of the other three superb clubs in the final is very humbling.”
Runners up were: Appleton Thorn Village Hall in Warrington, Flixton Conservative Club in Manchester and Orpington Liberal Club, Orpington.
