CAMRA has welcomed the appointment of Emma McClarkin as the new chief executive of the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA).

McClarkin will start in the role in early November and succeeds Brigid Simmonds, who steps down to become chairman of the new Betting and Gaming Council.

CAMRA’s National Chairman Nik Antona said: “We’re delighted to hear that Emma McClarkin has been named Chief Executive of the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA).

“Emma has supported CAMRA’s events in the European Parliament for a number of years whilst acting as an MEP. We hope to continue that relationship as she takes on her new role at the head of the BBPA, working together on issues facing Britain’s beer drinkers and pub-goers.”
