The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is now seeing nominations for its annual Campaigner of the Year award.

This prestigious award puts a face and a personality to campaigning for real ale and/or pubs, by rewarding those who have fought effectively in the interests of these industries.

The deadline for nominations is 25th February 2019.

Any individual can be nominated for the award – they do not necessarily need to be a CAMRA member or located within their nominator’s branch boundaries. In order to cast the net as wide as possible, nominations are encouraged for any person who has lobbied for effective campaigns locally or nationally; who are in the pub or brewing industries and promote their interests; or even celebrities and politicians who actively support real ale and pubs.

Each nomination needs to be endorsed by at least one CAMRA branch. Branches may support more than one nomination.

In order to nominate someone, a written notice must be submitted, setting out how the person nominated has been an effective and inspiring campaigner. The nomination should include a description of what campaigning the nominee has undertaken, how the nominee has inspired others to contribute, and the outcomes achieved. The word limit for nominations is 350 words, with no added images or graphics.

Nominations will be carefully considered by a panel comprising representatives of CAMRA branches, staff, Regional Directors and the National Executive. The panel will only consider the applications and not base their decision on any prior knowledge of the nominee.

The winner will be announced at the Members’ Weekend 2019.

2017’s winner was Lyn Sharp, a CAMRA recruitment officer involved with the Stoke-on-Trent branch.

Nominations should be sent to: or CAMRA, 230 Hatfield Road, St Albans, AL1 4LW. Please phone 01727 337 851 for more information.

The deadline for nominations is Monday 25th February 2019.
